People were asked to send in lines from novels, songs, and all sort
of phrases used in public, and these were used to create one hundred
new omikuji* as a revelation from contemporary society. Visitors to
the exhibit were then asked to take one and attempt an interpretation
with the original text in original form, which was also exhibited.
*omikuji or written oracles, can be found at shrines and temples
in Japan. Originally, omikuji were a means of receiving a message
from the gods in order to determine one's fortune or to make decisions.
